Why there is an attachment called winmail.dat included in the received mail?Applicable only with Outlook 2007 and older versions This is a feature of older versions of Outlook and Outlook Express. The winmail.dat file contains data to preserve message formatting. It applies only if e-mail is sent in RTF format (Outlook Rich Text format) Further details can be found in the Microsoft knowledge base at http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;us-en;278061
