Issue
How is logging handled?
Solution
Logs can be viewed from both the Administration Suite and the CLI.
Several logs are available through the Administration Suite. These logs include:
- System - Lists chronologically all system or appliance-related activity i.e. reboots, updates, etc. for a given day.
- Mail - Provides information on the number of IMAP, POP, SMTP sessions, failures, and statistics by user.
- Domain Mail - Provides information on the number of IMAP, POP, SMTP sessions, failures, and statistics by user.
- Administrator - Details all commands issued chronologically and the administrator who entered those commands.
All logs are kept for 7 seven days. The log also provides information on the message size, the total number of sent and received bytes by user and sender. The detailed logs that these statistics are built from are also available to the administrator.

NOTE: In Release 2.8 or later, it is possible to log events through the CLI and export them to an external Syslog server. For more information, use the Help About Log command in the CLI. |
