How do I submit emails that are incorrectly flagged as spam (or as not spam) to Mirapoint for analysis?
Solution
To improve the spam catch rate, Mirapoint asks customers to provide sample email messages of false positives as well as false negatives. This article describes false positives and negatives, how to report them, and provides examples for several common mail applications.
- False Positives - messages that are not spam, but were incorrectly delivered as spam
- False Negatives - messages that are spam, but were not identified as spam
Submitting a False Positive Report
- Send the full message and headers.
- Do not forward or redirect the message. Depending on the mail application, either forward the message as an attachment or attach it to a new message (see "Capturing Full Headers for Submittal" in this article). Full headers are required.
- In certain mail applications, you can collect several false positive messages and submit them as multiple attachments to a single message.
- Send the report message to: notspam@spam.mirapoint.com.
Submitting a False Negative Report
- You must send the full message and headers.
- Send the report message to: spam@spam.mirapoint.com.
What Happens to the False Positive/Negative Report?
An automated reply is sent to every correctly formatted report after you submit it. If you do not receive a reply, then you might have sent the report in an unrecognizable format; you might also have filtered out the response.
Mirapoint uses these customer reports to improve its spam scoring algorithms; you will not receive any direct notification when the algorithms are updated. If you have a critical situation or need more specific feedback, contact Mirapoint Technical Support.
