Issue
Why is my tape drive or media changer not recognized by the Mirapoint appliance?
Solution
NOTE: Before reading this article, Mirapoint highly recommends reading the latest version of the Mirapoint Backup and Restore Guide. |
If you are certain a tape device is correctly installed, but it is not recognized by the Mirapoint system, use the CLI to do the following: This procedure can only be used if the tape drive or library is locally attached to a Mirapoint appliance.
1. Enter the following command:
CLI> Diag Rescan
The SCSI buses are rescanned for devices.
If the device is incorrectly attached, this command can cause the system to become unstable or crash. Check the cable connections before running the Diag Rescan command.
2. Verify the tape device is recognized by the Mirapoint system by re-entering the appropriate command; for example:
CLI> Diag Get Tapeaddress (for a tape drive)
OR
CLI> Diag Get Changeraddress (for a tape library)
If the tape device does not appear when the command is re-entered, the Diag Rescan command failed.
3. Reboot the Mirapoint appliance.
4. Re-enter the appropriate command for your tape drive or library. If the tape address is not displayed, contact your Certified Mirapoint Service Provider, or Mirapoint Technical Support.
