Issue
What is the file size capacity for system and antivirus logs, and what happens if that capacity is reached?
Solution
System and virus logs each use up to the same 400MB per day of disk space for the system store, so the capacity for each is tied to the amount of space consumed by either log. The administrator receives an alert message when the log file reached approximately 90% of capacity.
For a virus log to fill up, hundreds of thousands of virus-infected emails would have to arrive at the Message Server or RazorGate appliance in one day. If the capacity is exceeded, logging stops until the logs roll over at midnight, when the oldest log file is replaced by the new day's log file.
Each SMTP incident requires a single log file. Each antivirus incident also requires an SMTP log.
In Release 2.8 and later, up to seven days of history on the mail store are kept in the logs.
In Release 2.9 and later, Mirapoint Unified Logging (MUL) logs use up to an additional 1GB of the mail store.
In Release 3.4 and later, MUL logs use up to an additional 100GB of the mail store.
MUL logs contain those items specified with the Log command. For more information, see the Mirapoint Administration Protocol Reference for your version of MOS.
