Issue
What is the LDAP configuration for IMAP Proxy Setup?
Solution
When organizations deploy multiple IMAP servers, they often designate one as an IMAP proxy, a central server that knows where each user's email is stored.
To simplify mail account administration, lookup by LDAP (lightweight directory access protocol) can determine mailbox locations. When the IMAP proxy server cannot find a local user account, it queries LDAP services for this information.
For more information on commands that configure an IMAP proxy server using LDAP lookup and user authentication, see any of the following:
- The Mirapoint Message Server Administrator's Guide
- The Mirapoint Administration Protocol Reference
- The Administration Suite online help
- The CLI online help
Additionally, the attached articles provide information on common scenarios on a Mirapoint appliance for a Single-Domain Server and Virtual-Domain Server (deprecated) with LDAP.
