It has been several weeks since Microsoft made its Creators Update for Microsoft Windows 10 available. As we have informed recently there was an issue of IceWarp Outlook Sync running on Windows 10 after "Creators" update. More details about the issue are described here
Our investigation revealed that the problem happens when Outlook itself tries to access PST (Outlook data file) to collect telemetry statistics (data is being sent from a Windows to Microsoft's telemetry servers and Outlook uses them when synchronizing), hence it interferes with Outlook Sync plugin that needs to access the PST too. Therefore we had to change the way how Outlook Sync accesses PST on Windows 10.
To prevent the freezing of Outlook we already have a hotfix available (see download link below). Outlook Sync automatically recognizes whether it runs on Windows 10 Creators and if this is the case it uses the modified way of accessing PST, otherwise it uses the standard synchronization mechanism.
Who is affected?
Customers using Outlook Sync (any version) who installed the latest Windows 10 Creators update.
What is the issue?
After installing the Creators Update, Outlook may under some circumstances crash or stop working, because the update interferes with the Outlook Sync plugin and breaks the ability to synchronize data with IceWarp.
