Overview
Microsoft officially announced that Outlook 2016 and Outlook 2019 will reach the end of life (EOL) on October 14, 2025.
What does EOL mean?
End of life (EOL) occurs when a product or service is discontinued. Organizations that use the product will have to migrate to a new solution to continue receiving updates and security patches.
After this date, Microsoft will no longer provide security updates or technical support for the software. While the software will continue to function, users will be vulnerable to security risks and will not receive bug fixes or technical assistance.
Customers using affected versions of Outlook with any version of IceWarp must update to newer versions as soon as possible if they want to receive our technical support.
What issues can occur with using Outlook 2016 and 2019 after the EOL?
- security issues - the data will be vulnerable to possible attacks
- connectivity issues - up-to-date IceWarp software may refuse connection to outdated Outlook clients with outdated security protocols
- compatibility issues - up-to-date IceWarp software may not be compatible with outdated Outlook clients, leading to errors and limited or no functionality
What does it mean for IceWarp OutlookSync users?
After October 14, OutlookSync will be supported and compatible only with Outlook Classic 2021 and 2024 and only on the Windows platform.
If you have any more questions about the transition to a supported version of Outlook, please feel free to contact our support.
