Overview
Outlook has the option to recall emails. If the user and recipients are on Microsoft Exchange or Microsoft 365 and in the same organization, the sender can recall an email in case it was sent by mistake or is no longer relevant.
However, IceWarp Server does not support email recall. Therefore, there is a risk that if you use recall in Outlook for an IceWarp account, you will get an error email every time Outlook tries to recall the mail and fails. Thus, your Inbox will be overflowed with error emails. In this article you will find out how to stop the flow of error emails and avoid it in the future.
How to stop looping
To stop this process, you need to restart the SMTP service.
- Go to Remote Console -> Services.
- Right-click SMTP and select Restart Module "SMTP" in the menu.
- The module will restart shortly.
However, if you run Outlook again, the problem repeats. That is why you need to delete the Outlook profile bound to the IceWarp account and create a new profile that will be synchronized with IceWarp again.
How to disable recall option
In order to avoid looping of error messages in future, we recommend disabling the recall option on the Exchange server.
- Go to Exchange admin center -> Settings (1) -> Mail flow (2).
- Uncheck Enable cloud-based message recall (3) checkbox.
- Click Save (4) to disable the option for the entire organization.
