Users approve IceWarp for its transparent licensing model. The software is subscription-based, which means you pay the license cost upfront and then the renewal fee periodically each year to maintain the software up-to-date, secure and protected from future security threats.
Software Maintenance is included both with a new license and with the annual subscription renewal and includes:
- Anti-Spam updates (if purchased)
- Anti-Virus updates (if purchased)
- Upgrades to the latest IceWarp version
- All major/minor/patch versions
- Free standard support
The security is crucial with servers, and this ensures that you will always run the latest version, which brings many improvements, bug-fixes and corrects known vulnerabilities. At the same time, you get all the updates for the built-in security engines (if you purchased them) along with standard product support.
Each year, we will contact you to renew your subscription, usually at least 30 days ahead of the expiration. If the license expired and you didn't renew it, the product will have the following limitations:
- Anti-Virus updates/upgrades will be no longer available
- Anti-Spam updates/upgrades will be no longer available
- IceWarp version upgrades will be no longer possible
- Support will become unavailable in all its current options
- All services will be stopped after a 14-day grace period
In addition to the reminder to renew your subscription that we send to your preferred email address you indicated during the purchase, an automatic expiration notice is sent to your postmaster address before the end of the subscription period. This minimizes the possibility of missing the expiration date and preventing the software from becoming non-operational at the end of the subscription term.
If you let the license expire despite our best effort, the product's functionality will be disabled after a 14-day grace period. The services won't start, and users won't be able to log in. You can still renew your subscription within the next 30 days. After you activate the renewed license, the software will return to the state before the expiration. If you fail to renew, we understand you no longer wish to use the software, and the license is cancelled. You may purchase a new license if the needs arise again in the future, however, at the cost of a new customer.
You can renew your subscription for (at least) 1 year or more, at any time during your subscription term, but no later than 30 days after the end of the current subscription term. Additional discounts are available for multi-year renewals.
Please note that you need to update all of the items on your license, the product is highly integrated, and each component takes advantage of routines built into the server core. If you omit to update the license for a component, it will become unregistered (Evaluation in the Status column) and will expire in 7 days.
Check your license status in Help - License dialogue.
Renewal Period column shows the remaining days of your subscription. If the number is a negative value, it's a cause for concern as the software would stop functioning very soon.
Contact us at sales@icewarp.com for the renewal, and we will immediately assist you. In urgent cases use the Live Chat Support option on our website and we will respond right away.
Please note for customers using version 12.3 and older, the licensing model has been updated starting with Deep Castle Gen 2 (13.0) and most of the terms described here do not apply to your perpetual license model. Please refer to the text of the EULA that came with your version for precise conditions. You will become subject to the terms above only by upgrading to version 13.0 or higher and with your consent.
